After easing into the morning, I hadn’t yet made it to breakfast when Bill called to say he was on his way to pick me up. Without pause, we were off to Brulotte’s for their Corn Season opening. While plenty of local vendors offer excellent corn, for me, the season doesn’t truly begin until I’ve had my first from Brulotte’s.
Walking through the door and hearing staff greet me warmly from the back was an immediate joy. That welcome set the tone—and when the owner asked, “What did we charge you last year?” and honored that price again, it sealed the experience. As always, my daily lunch ritual remains three ears of corn.
We carried on to Heeman’s, where Bill picked up peaches and a flat of strawberries. My focus, however, was firmly fixed on the corn.
Once back at the apartment, I put the corn aside and returned to work on GC45. Today’s mission: tackling the library of reports. There are over 40 documents to review, and I’m determined to skim each and dive deeper into those that influence our proposals—though this may prove to be a formidable task.
At 1:00 p.m., I turned my attention to lunch. Using the method I shared in 2022, I cooked three ears of corn to perfection, dressed them to taste, and enjoyed every bite.

I took the opportunity to stretch out with a drive through the neighborhood, soaking in the beautiful Holiday Monday. A quick stop at No Frills netted a small steak for supper.
The afternoon returned me to GC45. Supper included the steak and roasted vegetables, followed by a short trip to the Frozen Cow and then back to the desk.
Two more days until I’m on a plane bound for Calgary.
