Day 2 GC45

Sleep Setup Woes (and Wins)
Last night wasn't the most restful. My grand plan to sleep on the passenger side of the vehicle did save me a step, but the length wasn’t quite enough. Still, we made it work, and I ended up getting a decent sleep. I’ve decided today will be my first official rearrangement — time to rework the setup.0

Early Rise & Coffee Perks
Alarm set for 6 a.m., but I naturally woke at 5:54. My morning routine flowed smoothly, and I even had time to stop at the visitor information center's picnic area, fire up the Keurig, and enjoy a fresh mug of coffee. Simple pleasures.

Ferry Boarding & Breakfast Win
Made it to the ferry early — second in line in my row, in fact. That did mean over an hour of waiting before the 8:15 boarding time, but the process was smooth once things got moving. I dashed straight to the dining lounge and tucked into a surprisingly tasty cafeteria breakfast: scrambled eggs, ham (my pick), hash browns, toast, and coffee. Served from warming trays but definitely decent.

Smooth Sailing & Lake Loop
The voyage was lovely — the water smooth as glass. I had plenty of time to eat, roam the boat, sit on the observation deck, and watch fellow travelers. Docking went smoothly too, and being up front meant no delays.

After topping up the tank ($1.41/litre), I followed my GPS to Lake Mindemoya — or so I thought. A tiny error had me winding through the island’s core and arriving on the wrong side of the lake. Intrigued, I continued driving around the top and made a full circle to the opposite shore. A scenic detour, let’s call it.

Campsite Catch-up & Cozy Eats
Thanks to my stellar memory and navigational brilliance (with a splash of luck), I found Mark and Barbara’s campsite. We enjoyed a long coffee-fueled conversation before heading to a nearby restaurant for lunch (courtesy of them — thank you!). I could get used to this kind of treatment.

Evening in Espanola & Indian Flavors
Reluctantly said goodbye, then made my way to Espanola to scope out my overnight spot — a strip mall beside a 24-hour fitness club.

Did a major rearrangement of my Escape setup, then headed out for supper at Sukhdev, a Yelp-recommended Indian spot. I feasted on lamb in spinach gravy with homemade naan — delicious with just the right level of spice.

Daily stats: 172.6 km traveled, fuel efficiency holding at 7.6 L/100km.
