20240720 – Manitoulin Day 2

July 20, 2024

As prearranged Rev. Mark and Barbara picked me up at 8:00 a.m. to go for breakfast. This meant I had to get up at 6:30 to accomplish all my morning rituals including breaking camp. I followed them to Mum’s in town (A restaurant called Mum’s) and it was both a bakery and an eatery, service was small-town, and the food was good. For some reason, I was not overly hungry, maybe talked to much but left more on my plate than I do usually. On top of this, they paid.

During the time together I talked a lot about not being able to shake my hurry-up and travel habits. As we parted I talked with myself and given the beauty of the spot where I spent last night, the little bit of the Island I had seen and the fact that I did not have to be anywhere else to be thus I stayed.

First, I relaxed at the site and actually read 100 pages of a book. Then I drove a circle tour from the rest area to Gore Bay,

where I had lunch at Codmothers. A very choice piece of White Fish, chips like Mary used to make and a large, iced coffee. From there I drove across the Island to South Baymouth

then up to Little Current and back to the rest area. On the way I stopped and picked up Presidents Choice Macaroni and Cheese and a Banana. Back at the site I fired up the Keurig and filled my travel mug, pulled out my book, relaxed. When the time was right I fired up the Air Fryer, cooked the Mac and Cheese, put the rest of yesterday's salad in a bowl and had supper with a banana for dessert.

Although I did too much driving and not enough looking today I at least broke the go button a little bit.

Hope all are well and maybe tomorrow back too the trip.

Love to all

Statistics 5 hours driving 248 km 7 L/100
