I got out of bed after 10 hours of sleep. While I had some restless periods at night, I can survive in the car. Walmart is not a bad overnight spot but only for sleeping. It took a while to get the car back to traveling mode from sleeping setup, but I was underway by 8:30 about ½ block, gas at 1.56/liter, and then up the hill to McDonald’s for breakfast.  Back on the 400 by 9:30. A brief washroom break for sentimental reasons at the French River Trading Post.

Next TransCanada junction with 6 where I stopped for lunch at Wendy’s. I had an Apple Pecan Salad and a diet ginger ale.

From there I headed south to Manitoulin with a stop at Food Basics in Espanola for supper supplies. On to Mindemoya to visit with Rev. Mark and Barbara.

They are vacationing here in a beautiful setup. Mark percolated coffee, and we sat in the shade beside the lake and my relaxation finally started.

I had previously researched a possible free overnight stealth spot within 5 km of the campground so I said my goodbyes and went to check it out. From the pictures, you can see this is what my stealth wishful thinking is about. Parked by the water with a picnic table and clean washrooms. It is a public rest area without no no-camping signs. I stopped, set up, read a book, cooked my super, visited with locals and now am doing my daily blog. Meanwhile, the water lapped at the shore and the sun set over Treasure Island. I am right beside Hyw 531but I expect the traffic and road noise to be light and ignorable.

Tomorrow, Rev. Mark and Barb are picking me up for breakfast and then we will see what the next step is.

Beautiful weather and a scenic drive with a great overnight spot – great day.
