A leisurely morning - poached eggs for breakfast and off to see the area. First stop was 1.5 KM at the "Rock that Ran". This was a large split granite boulder at the side of the road. An example of remnants from the Ice Age and retreating glaciers but associated with an Indian legend. On to the Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump a further 1.5 Km's down the road. This was quite interesting and we spent more than two hours at the viewing of the area plus the inside exhibits and videos. While I had expected a much more severe and deep drop off the reality of the site was evident. Also was very busy with a full parking lot including at least one bus tour. Debated eating lunch on site but decided to go into town to find the restaurant we had missed last night. We found it in their new location (as of yesterday) and had a good lunch. In conversation with the owner (our waitress) we found out that she and her husband had also just taken over the operation of the restaurant at the Head Smashed in Exhibit so we would have had basically the same menu at either place. After lunch we hurried over to the NorthWest Mounted Police Museum and Fort just in time to catch their Musical Ride. We then toured and enjoyed their exhibits and buildings. After this we did a short tour of the main street shopping but by this time the heat was getting to both of us so a quick stop at the A&W for a diet root beer float and back to the air conditioned 5vr for down time. Mary to nap and me to my computer. Supper later tonight is to be Bison Steaks we picked up in Vernon.
