Mary and Keith's
Excellent Adventure
2003
July 17, 2003 - Quesnel and BArkerville
Leisurely start to the day. Breakfast and packed up to go to Barkersville. About 1 1/2 hour drive on great road through hill/mountainous countryside. Arrived just in time to take a stage coach ride through town followed by a short walk to Jake's for Lunch. Great food, Lamb Stew and Garlic soup for me While Mary had a Roast Beef sandwich and Potato Dill soup. Good but pricey. Finished lunch walked Main Street to the Theatre just in time for the Musical Review. Very enjoyable and about the right length. From there we t0ured the main street until was time for the show at the Mining Sluice. This show was worth the price of admission. Not only did I come away with a thorough knowledge of how they used the system to pump out the mines, lower the miners to bedrock haul up the diggings and sluice it for gold but it was done in a enjoyable humorous and professional manner. After it was over we made our way back to Quesnel and to the Grocery store to buy supper fixings. About 6 Gary and Eileen showed up at the site so we could return the supper favour and have a pleasant evening at our trailer. Sure was a great two days. Mary cleaned up and I to the computer.
