Excellent Adventure
2003
July 16, 2003 - Jasper to Quesnel
Early start from Jasper to Quesnel. Start off sunny. Mountains again are the order of the day - If anything more breathtaking than yesterday. First stop is Mount Robson - highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately the peak is under cloud cover by the time we get there. Do the information bureau tour and also purchase a snack. On to Prince George with one stop along the way for Gas. Bypassed Prince George and south towards Quesnel. Dark clouds start to follow us and surround us but only the odd sprinkle. By the time we got to Hixon I needed gas again - here the wind picked up to an audible level but still not rain. On to Quesnel and on past to Roberts Roost Campground. They were expecting us and were holding a fax from Gary with details on supper arrangements. We set up and phoned Gary five PM to say we would be there before 6. Checked messages and got word from Katherine that Joe had taken 5 steps on Monday. Had to phone and follow up on this. At Gary's we met Eileen's Brother and his wife who had been at the Cabin but were back before returning home to their home. Great couple and the six of us enjoyed a fine meal of Chinese food and then retired to the Piano for qa night of musical self-entertainment. Fantastic fun reminiscent of days gone by. Finally we returned to our campsite singing all the way.
