Up, breakfast, broke camp and we are on the way by 9:30 AM. Still have that rumble pulling out of the campground. Took Hyw 2 to Red Deer, Hyw 11 through Rocky Mountain House to Banff National Park, stopped for lunch and gas in the Park. On to Hyw 93 and up the park to Jasper. Lovely day for a drive - Sun Shining but only 22 - 25 C - Small puffy clouds in the sky. What can we say about the drive - one spectacular view after another. I have provided several pictures - took many more - and could have taken them as fast as we could click the shutter. Do you say shutter with a digital camera??? Got suprisingly good gas mileage through the mountains and the F150-7700 performed admirably. Had no trouble keeping up with traffic and she pulled like a dream. Took a stone in the windshield from a truck we met - cracked in the lower drivers corner but will leave until we get home as we may get more. When we entered Banff National Park the attendant checked with Whistler Camp Ground and they had not serviced or electrical sites left but did have, for first come first served, unserviced spots. Along Hyw 93 we did come across a herd of mountain goats feeding on the side of the road. Mary got some good shots but unfortunately they were in white sand so not the best pictures but check them out. As we came closer the Jasper I phoned the Wapiti Campground - the other service area near Jasper - and they had 3 electric sites left but no reservations. When we got there the attendant suggested that we did not want an electric site as they were in a paved parking lot she wanted us to have a good site in the woods. When I explained that it made it easier for my breathing machine she said that she would get me a site at Whistler. I told her they were full but she said she would get me a medical site. It appears they save electrical sites for medical needs. We proceeded on to Whistler and have the best site we have had all trip. Check out the picture. It is a real good camp. It is however under bear watch. The bears are down because the berries are out. One must be cautious and keep the campsite free of anything that will attract them. We set up camp and Mary grabbed a nap while I sat outside and read a book. Much later we roused ourselves and went into Jasper. Got some supplies (bread cream etc.) and went to Earl's for supper. Cruised the town and back to camp.
