Mary and Keith's
Excellent Adventure
2003
July 9, 2003 - Winnipeg
Breakfast and off to downtown Winnipeg. Stopped at Folk Festival office - no one home - so could not find out about Leon Redbone. Went to Portage and found Hudson Bay Store, parked. Walked to Winnipeg Tourist Office - very helpful and friendly. She showed us how to find Paul and Corey's, how to find the lawn bowling club, got us phone numbers for the lawn bowling club and tried to find out when Leon Redbone was performing at Folk Festival. Walked back to Hudson Bay - used the 2nd floor walkway system. Hudson Bay Store really nothing special - just symbolic. Walked back to car and drove to the Manitoba Legislature. In the park in front was the Taste of Manitoba. A marvelous experience although it can get into your pocket book farly fast. We stuffed ourselves on everything from Lamb and Spinach salad with smoked chicken to Deep Fried Cheesecake. We then waddled to the legislature just in time for a tour. Took the tour (why are all tour guides comedians) informative and interesting. After the tour we drove to Paul and Corey Helm's home for a visit. Good to see them settled and growing together as a family. Nice house, great kids. We stayed longer than we had intended as it was raining so our lawn bowling was not going to happen. Then a trip to the mall for essentials at Walmart, stopped for gas and back to the trailer for our games of Cribbage.
